Flensburg (dpa / lno) - Backcourt player Lasse Møller from the handball Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt is out for a long time due to cartilage damage in his left knee.

The Schleswig-Holsteiner announced on Monday.

Møller is due to have an operation soon.

The backcourt player left the Danish national team prematurely a few days ago due to knee problems.

For the 24-year-old Dane it is the second long retirement this season.

In October last year he sustained a complicated hand injury and was not available to his team for three months.

"I'm incredibly sorry for Lasse," said SG head coach Maik Machulla.

After surviving a hand injury, Møller was "back at full performance".
