Freilassing (dpa / lby) - After a fire in an asylum seeker accommodation in the Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgadener Land, a 25-year-old resident is in custody.

He is suspected of having started a fire in three places in the building after a dispute with roommates, the police said on Sunday.

In the fire on Saturday afternoon, two residents had come to the hospital with slight smoke inhalation.

According to the Red Cross, the two injured are residents of the neighboring house who had tried to extinguish.

The accommodation in Freilassing comprises several buildings.

All five residents of the house in which there was a fire came out unharmed.

The fire brigade was able to quickly bring the locally limited room fire under control, said the Red Cross.

The police initially gave no information on Sunday about a possible motive of the alleged arsonist.

The fire brigade reported that the man had set fire in the kitchen and toilet as well as in his room, said a police spokesman.

In addition, fire alarms were covered.

The amount of the damage was initially unclear.
