Berlin (AP) - FDP leader Christian Lindner does not want his party to commit to possible coalitions before the federal election.

"The course of independence of the FDP in the matter has paid off," said Lindner on Monday in Berlin in a balance sheet of the state elections in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.

The elections were also a vote on the crisis policy of the Union-led federal government.

He called for the so-called mask affair not only to be cleared up among the members of the Union, but in the federal government as a whole.

It is too early for coalition speculation after the federal election in September.

“What matters to us is which content fits together,” said Lindner.
