Dust storms ring the alarm again, ecological governance still cannot be relaxed

On March 15, the yellow dust storm warning issued by the Central Meteorological Observatory showed that sandstorms occurred in Beijing, northern Hebei, northwestern Shanxi, central and western Inner Mongolia, and western Gansu, and local strong sandstorms with a visibility of less than 500 meters occurred.

"This sand and dust weather has a wide range of impacts, and it is the strongest sand and dust weather process in the past 10 years." said Zhang Bihui, director of the Environmental Meteorological Center of the China Meteorological Administration.

In fact, not only this sandstorm, but also the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and surrounding areas have been sounding heavy pollution weather warnings one after another since early March.

Since March 4, heavy pollution weather has occurred in Handan, Langfang, Hebei and other places.

On March 9th, Tianjin's air quality index also broke through 200. Starting from the 7th, the concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing has gradually increased; on March 10th, the entire city of Beijing fell into "level 5 heavy pollution" or "level 6 heavy pollution."

After continuous management, there have been more and more "blue sky and white clouds" in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in recent years, and the smog seems to be going away.

But in fact, the industrial structure of high pollution, high emissions, and high energy consumption in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has not yet been fundamentally changed.

Pollutant emissions are still at a high level, and unfavorable weather conditions are superimposed, and pollution processes are extremely easy to occur.

Although the dust mainly originated in Mongolia, experts said that its formation may be related to local pollutants in North China.

Peng Yingdeng, a researcher at the National Urban Environmental Pollution Control Technology Research Center, said that starting from the evening of March 14, the sand and dust in southern Mongolia will go south, superimposed on the sand and dust in western Inner Mongolia, central and northern Ningxia and other regions, and then transported southeast to Beijing and Tianjin. The Hebei region, superimposed with the recent haze weather in North China, finally formed this composite pollution.

It can be said that this sudden dust storm has once again sounded the alarm for us. Although the "Blue Sky Defence War" is effective, it still takes a long time to work. I can't feel that it is almost the same. I even felt relieved and rested.

Smog control, wind prevention and sand fixation, prevention and control of soil erosion, carbon peaking, carbon neutrality... There are still many difficult "hard bones" in ecological governance. The construction of ecological civilization is always on the road and can never be loosened.

In addition, the sandstorm is a cross-border heavy pollution weather phenomenon. Mongolia was also severely affected. From the evening of March 13th to 15th at 9 am, the snowstorm and strong sandstorm in Mongolia caused 9 deaths and 12 missing. .

This also proves once again the importance of building a community with a shared future for mankind. Ecological governance is a matter for all mankind. Only by strengthening cooperation, cooperating with each other, and sharing governance experience can all countries in the world gain lasting blue sky, white clouds, green water and green mountains.
