Munich (dpa / lby) - Deutsche Bahn wants to invest 2.35 billion euros in rail infrastructure and train stations in Bavaria this year.

The company announced on Monday that 350 kilometers of track should be rehabilitated, 360 points modernized and 30 railway bridges renewed.

In addition, 90 stops and stations would be modernized.

Among other things, train stations such as Augsburg, Ansbach, Donauwörth, Heimstetten, Haßfurt and Poing are to be made barrier-free.

Other major projects in the current year include a digital signal box in Donauwörth, the renovation of the Pfaffenhofen train station, the expansion of the Nuremberg-Ebensfeld line and work on the second main line in Munich.

Nationwide, Deutsche Bahn is investing 12.7 billion euros in infrastructure this year.

«The rails are at the heart of the climate change.

That is why we are investing more than ever and increasing the pace for the renovation and more capacity in the rail network, ”said Infrastructure Manager Ronald Pofalla.
