March 15, 2021 The Italian Medicines Agency Aifa has decided to extend the ban on the use of the AstraZeneca Covid19 vaccine throughout the country as a precaution and temporarily, pending the pronouncements of the EMA.

This decision was taken in line with similar measures adopted by other European countries.

Further investigations are currently underway.

Aifa, in coordination with EMA and the other European countries, will jointly evaluate all the events that have been reported following the vaccination.

The Agency will promptly disclose any further information that may become available, including further ways of completing the vaccination course for those who have already received the first dose.
