Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate Health Minister Sabine Lichtenthäler-Bätzing (SPD) is again inferior to the CDU member of the state parliament Michael Wäschenbach in the state election in her constituency of Betzdorf / Kirchen (Sieg).

According to the regional election administration, she received 11,756 constituency votes (37.4 percent) in the vote on Sunday as a direct candidate - and Wäschenbach 13,037 votes (41.5 percent).

However, she can move back into the state parliament via the state list - as it did after the 2016 election, when she was also defeated by Wäschenbach in the same duel.

In the state votes in the constituency of Betzdorf / Kirchen (Sieg) in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate, the SPD was ahead with 35.5 percent.

The Christian Democrats got 33.6 percent, the AfD 8.6, the Greens 6.5, the FDP 5.4 and the Free Voters 3.2 percent.
