Dresden (AP) - Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer has named the mask deals of Union members in the Bundestag and the corona policy of recent weeks as reasons for the poor CDU results in the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg.

Even if the CDU / CSU parliamentary group has tried to clear the table with regard to the mask deals, something always gets stuck.

"That this annoys people and that you can see it in such an election result is more than understandable," said the CDU politician on Sunday evening.

Kretschmer also referred to the corona policy of the past few weeks, which, in his opinion, would have led to uncertainty among people.

The past few weeks have been "a departure" from the "very stringent corona policy".

Kretschmer described the state election Sunday as a "turning point" and emphasized with a view to the federal election: "I would very much like a bourgeois government, even if it is not in sight at the moment."

Partner number one would be the FDP.
