Berlin (dpa / bb) - Hundreds of households in Berlin-Lichtenberg are still without water after an accident.

"Some of the households now have water again, but the majority not yet," said a spokeswoman for the Berlin water company on Sunday evening.

According to her information, the water supply should be completely restored by the morning.

Until 10.30 p.m., employees of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) would distribute water bags to people who could not leave their apartment due to Corona or other reasons.

During the night, the defective pipe section that caused the accident is to be replaced.

Because of a broken water pipe, around 1,500 households, mostly in large prefabricated buildings in Neu-Hohenschönhausen, have been without water since the morning.

No water or only brownish water flowed from their taps for hours.

In order to guarantee their supply, several tap points at hydrants were also set up.
