Berlin (dpa / bb) - Alba Berlin has consolidated the second place in the table in the basketball Bundesliga with a sovereign home win.

On Sunday the Berliners defeated the BG Göttingen in their own hall in front of empty stands with 89:58 (40:30) and remain the first pursuer of front runner Ludwigsburg.

The best throwers from Berlin were Simone Fontecchio with 14 and Niels Giffey with twelve points.

In addition to long-term injured Jayson Granger, coach Aito Garcia Reneses also had to do without playmaker Maodo Lo due to a foot injury.

And newcomer Christ Koumadje also has to wait for his debut.

Although it was the eighth game in just 17 days for Alba, the Berlin team started very focused.

In the middle of the first quarter, the Berliners were able to break away a bit for the first time with a 9-0 run, after just under 13 minutes Alba was leading double-digit (27:17).

However, the hosts also made some ball losses.

In addition, some open litters were awarded.

After the break, Alba came out of the cabin with a lot of momentum.

After an 11-0 run, the lead grew to over 20 points (54:32) and was a preliminary decision in this game.

Coach Aito was able to spare some stars and played almost exclusively with German players.

Alba has to compete in Mitteldeutscher BC on Tuesday.
