The government plans to carry out around 100 medical evacuations next week from Ile-de-France, where hospitals are overwhelmed by the increase in resuscitation.

The Bordeaux University Hospital is preparing on Sunday to welcome some of these patients from Ile-de-France.

Transfers of patients from Ile-de-France began on Saturday and will continue for several days.

The government plans to carry out around 100 medical evacuations from Ile-de-France next week, government spokesman Gabriel Attal announced on Sunday.

Several dozen of them will be sent to the New Aquitaine university hospitals, which are preparing for this influx of patients on Sunday.

Two patients from Meaux hospital have already left from Orly airport in the morning.

In view of their arrival, the Bordeaux caregivers had to adjust their organization.

And this is only the beginning, since the ARS estimates that between 24 and 48 patients from Ile-de-France will arrive in New Aquitaine during the week.

Less overwhelmed than those of Île-de-France, the Bordeaux University Hospital will however have to deprogram certain interventions in anticipation of their arrival.

The CHU will be forced to deprogram "heavy interventions"

"Today, our capacities in terms of resuscitation are relatively limited since 90% of the places are occupied, with around 20% of Covid patients. We will have to start deprogramming heavy interventions", explains Dr. Laurent Petit , head of surgical resuscitation at Bordeaux University Hospital.

He fears a "loss of chance" for patients waiting to be operated.

"Some patients, those who will not be able to have major surgeries operated on, will be penalized. If operations are postponed, there are pathologies which, as in the first wave, may worsen."

A meeting will take place on Monday to precisely assess the reception capacities throughout New Aquitaine, both in public and private establishments.
