Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Science Minister Theresia Bauer von den Grünen has left the other parties far behind in the Heidelberg constituency with 41.66 percent of the vote.

As she did five years ago, the 55-year-old will again be a direct candidate for the state parliament.

The city announced the preliminary result on Sunday evening.

In 2016, Bauer had already received by far the most votes in the university city with 41 percent.

She has been responsible for science, research and the arts since May 2011.

The second strongest force was the CDU with 15.30 percent (2016: 19.2) of the vote.

The SPD received 12.65 (2016: 12.1) percent.

In the city on the Neckar, the top candidate and state spokeswoman for the Left, Sahra Mirow, also ran.

The Heidelberg city councilor with a degree in East Asian Studies and Archeology received 8.42 percent of the vote in 2016: 6.1).

The Liberals landed at 7.02 percent (2016: 8.0);

the AfD came to 5.18 percent and was significantly below the 2016 result of 10.9 percent.
