Essen (dpa / lnw) - After “Klaus” comes “Luis”: A new storm low brings storms, showers and thunderstorms to North Rhine-Westphalia at the weekend.

"I would not necessarily climb a mountain or go into the forest," said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Essen on Saturday.

Storm squalls are to be expected from the west on Saturday - at temperatures of a maximum of eight to eleven degrees.

During the day there are increasingly heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Then some heavy gusts of wind are also likely.

Hurricane-like gusts cannot be ruled out on the mountain peaks.

In the evening the wind weakens in the west.

In the Münsterland and East Westphalia, the storm was over for the time being at night.

Also on Sunday with a fresh west wind with partly stormy gusts can be expected.

Overall, however, the whole thing is much weaker, according to the expert.

It remains changeable with heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms with sleet.
