Kiel (dpa / lno) - The SPD has called for nationwide standards for distance learning by schoolchildren during the corona pandemic.

"If face-to-face teaching does not work, a video conference is the best plan B - and it has to be much better," said the SPD education politician Martin Habersaat of the German press agency.

Some of the school classes in the north are still alternating face-to-face and distance teaching.

"There must be a legal framework for video conferencing," said Habersaat.

These should not be based solely on the voluntary nature of those involved.

Teachers and students would have to be equipped with the necessary end devices.

"Where necessary, the necessary Internet access must also be provided."

The SPD also demands that all participants must be able to set a digital background.

Clear rules are also necessary, such as attendance lists, assessments of verbal and chat contributions and rules of courtesy.

“It is important to have a binding schedule for video conferences.

The point is not to work through the usual timetable not in the classroom, but in front of the screen. "

There must be enough breaks and screen-free time.
