Potsdam (dpa) - A Rembrandt exhibition starts today (10:00 a.m.) in the Potsdam Museum Barberini after a long Corona break.

Under the title "Rembrandts Orient" around 110 works by the master Rembrandt von Rijn (1606-1669) and his artistic contemporaries are shown.

There are 10 paintings, 4 drawings and 19 copper engravings by Rembrandt alone.

These include biblical scenes such as the painting "David hands over the head of Goliath to King Saul" or the "Bust of an old man in a turban".

The show was originally scheduled to run at Barberini last summer, but has been postponed to this spring due to the pandemic.

The exhibition shows the ideas of Dutch artists in the 17th century about culture in the Near and Far East, which was then developed by trading companies.

Only a few artists had traveled to these regions themselves.

For the visit with strict hygiene requirements, an appointment must be booked in advance, which can only be set three days in advance.

Only 660 visitors can be admitted daily.

The exhibition runs until June 27th.
