March 13, 2021 A bitter comedy, Adieu les cons by director Albert Dupontel, wins the César awards, the French Oscars, but the image of this strange edition, which takes place with cinemas closed for three months in France due to the pandemic, is that of the actress Corinne Masiero, who to protest against the abandonment of culture broke onto the stage naked, wearing a bloodstained donkey costume on her shoulders.

Dupontel's film, which chronicles the desperate search for a child by a seriously ill woman - has won seven awards, including Best Director.

Best Foreign Film was judged by Denmark's Another Round, directed by Thomas Vinterberg, the story of a group of friends who try to improve their lives by maintaining a permanent blood alcohol level.

Sami Bouajila won the Best Actor award for Mehdi Barsaoui's 'A Son', Laure Calamy the Best Actress award for Caroline Vignal's Antoinette dans les Cévennes.

Masiero had been invited to the virtual ceremony to present the costume award.

But she surprised those present in the room by showing herself naked with 'No culture, no future' written on her skin.

On the back another slogan directed to the French Prime Minister Jean Castex, "Give us back the art, Jean".

Last December, hundreds of actors, theater directors, musicians, technicians and film critics and many other exponents of the world of French culture protested in Paris and other cities against the government's closure of cultural sites.
