Bremen (dpa) - The times when Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich met at eye level in the Bundesliga are many years ago.

In the meantime, the former rival from northern Germany has long been one of Bavaria's absolute favorite opponents.

The never endangered 3: 1 (2: 0) on Saturday was already the 25th undefeated game of Munich against Bremen in a row.

In the Weser Stadium at home, Werder has been waiting for a home win for almost 15 years.

This time too, Bremen were miles away from a threesome in their own stadium.

Bayern celebrated their 18th victory this season and increased the pressure on rival RB Leipzig.

The Saxons meet Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday and are now five points behind Bayern in the top game.

Leon Goretzka (22nd minute), Serge Gnabry (35th) and Robert Lewandowski (67th) scored the goals for Munich's at least one class better.

Niclas Füllkrug scored for Werder (86th).

Bayern had everything under control right from the start.

The Bremen team did show some pleasing ball relays in the early stages and, thanks to Ludwig Augustinsson, also made it to the first goal.

Overall, the green-whites were offensive but far too harmless to put the series champion in danger.

The newly formed Bayern defense, in which Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez played for Niklas Süle and David Alaba, who was missing with muscular problems, spent a leisurely afternoon.

The guests laid out the Bremer for a good 20 minutes and then struck ice cold.

After a corner from Joshua Kimmich, who played his 250th competitive game in the Bayern jersey, Thomas Müller extended without any pressure to Goretzka, who was also able to head in free-standing.

For Müller it was already the twelfth assist on goal this season - league record.

The possibly soon-to-be-national player was also involved in Bayern's second goal.

As always when Müller plays against Bremen.

In an almost artistic way, Müller served the Gnabry that had run along with it, which only had to be pushed in.

After the lively initial phase, there was nothing to be seen from Werder.

Without courage, the home side let themselves be pushed back and made it far too easy for Bayern.

That didn't change after the break either.

As in a test match, Bayern were able to let the ball run through their own ranks and save energy for the crucial weeks ahead in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Actually, the second half was all about allowing top scorer Lewandowski to score.

The Pole failed three times (54th, 58th, 66th), then he was there and increased to 3-0.

For Lewandowski it was the 268th Bundesliga goal, with which he drew level with Klaus Fischer.

For Werder, the substitute Füllkrug only managed to hit the honor.
