Last week, Annalena Baerbock, chairwoman of the Greens, wrote on Twitter that she was thinking of the “many people” “who lost their lives as a result of the accident.” The reason for her statement was the anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

No one was killed directly in the nuclear disaster;

And studies come to different conclusions about how many fell ill and died afterwards.

The official Green channel had previously apologized for a speech that the party had dismissed in the interests of its boss, but deleted after massive opposition: "A mistake that we regret ... Tens of thousands of people did not immediately die in the Fukushima disaster ... "

Baerbock herself stuck to her choice of words.

This is a typical inaccuracy for the Green leader.

And because these inaccuracies occur regularly with her and they always support her reasoning, one can assume that they are intentional.

Baerbock's tactics are sometimes the tactics of populists: Let's see if you can get away with what you have brought to the point of being untruthful.

Or beyond the border: Last summer, as a guest at Markus Lanz on ZDF, at prime time in front of millions of viewers, Baerbock said about the state of Thuringia: "We were on the verge of a Nazi ... being elected Prime Minister." that Björn Höcke (AfD, whom Baerbock would probably call a "Nazi") was not eligible for election, but Thomas Kemmerich from the FDP - who was then elected with the vote of Höcke.

This is a matter of criticism, but it is completely different.

Last autumn, Baerbock stated that the “further construction of the A49” in Hesse had to be stopped “so that the valuable trees can remain standing”.

The fact that there is a Green Minister of Transport in Hesse who was of the opinion that the construction of the road could no longer be prevented by the federal government was largely ignored.

In November, the Green leader said in an interview with this newspaper: "It has been shown that populists do not disenchant themselves in power, but that they do what they say - undermine liberal democracy from within." There is a possibility that Annalena Baerbock will become Federal Chancellor.

If so, the hope remains that she will stick with the facts in the future - or that she has exaggerated again in the interview.
