Munich (dpa / lby) - The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Bavaria is well above the national average.

The Robert Koch Institute gave the seven-day incidence for the Free State on Saturday with 82.0 in the national average.

Bavaria is thus well above the nationwide incidence of 76.1.

Only in Thuringia (152.1), Saxony (100.5) and Saxony-Anhalt (96.0) was it higher than in Bavaria.

Just under a month ago, the seven-day incidence in Bavaria was just over 50.

A total of 1968 new infections were now counted in Bavaria within 24 hours, plus 28 registered deaths.

The city of Hof showed the highest incidence on Saturday with 318.6.

The district of Kulmbach with 248.7 and the district of Wunsiedel with 246.4 were also above the 200 limit.

Only five districts and urban districts were below the mark of 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days: The front runner is the district of Kitzingen with an incidence of 8.8 - followed by the districts of Eichstätt (16.2), Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( 30.6), Günzburg (33.9) and Landsberg am Lech (34.9).
