March 13, 2021 "The Astrazeneca vaccine is safe. The balance between benefits and risks is extremely favorable. We must not be afraid of it at the moment and we must continue to go to the vaccination centers with great tranquility".

Nicola Magrini, director of Aifa, in an interview with Corriere della Sera eases the tensions after the withdrawal of a batch of the vaccine and assures that "we have never seen an alarm that has become so widespread on the basis of so little data".

10 million no-effect doses

“Millions of people have been treated worldwide, over 10 million in the UK alone, and have experienced mild, short-lived side effects.

"As for some more serious reports - continues Magrini - including some sudden deaths or heart attacks, the causal link with the vaccine has not been established and therefore episodes due to something else are to be considered".

The Italian cases

As regards the 2 Italian deaths, "it will be important to read the results of the autopsies in detail. For at least one case the direct relationship with the preparation of Astrazeneca has already been excluded. Today there will be an autopsy on the soldier from Augusta. It is of primary interest because it is the case closest to the vaccine dose ".

Magrini explains "it is very large, about 500 thousand doses, half distributed to Italy, throughout the national territory".

And he reassures those who have already been immunized: "any
