Ravensburg (dpa / lsw) - A fire in a building in Ravensburg caused damage of 400,000 euros on Saturday morning.

The roof structure was completely burned down and the entire building is now in danger of collapsing and is no longer habitable, the police reported.

Previously, a resident had tried in vain to put out the fire.

He and three other residents had to be housed elsewhere.

Nobody got hurt.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be a defect in a stainless steel fireplace, said a police spokesman.

The chimney probably developed too much heat and this triggered the fire.
