A 32-year-old man suspected of having killed his ex-partner with several stab wounds, in Mably (Loire), on the night of Friday to Saturday, was taken into custody in Roanne, we learned to the prosecution.
"This man, originally from Senegal, showed up at five in the morning at the Roanne police station, his hands stained with blood, saying: 'I did something stupid, I just killed my wife'", declared Abdelkrim Grini, the public prosecutor of Roanne.
“The police found that the victim was lying dead on his bed.
She bore on the neck the mark of several stab wounds which had reached the carotid artery ”, specified the magistrate who in turn went there.
As part of the open investigation for "murder by ex-partner", the custody of the latter will be extended until Sunday, he added.
According to the first elements collected by the investigators from the mother of the victim, the childless couple had been separated for two years.
Neighbors of this 34-year-old nursing home employee said they heard, around 2:30 am, screams coming from the young woman's apartment.
In 2020, 90 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in France, a figure at the lowest since statistics were put in place 15 years ago.
