Berlin (dpa / bb) - A stranger is said to have set fire to the tent of a homeless person in Berlin-Charlottenburg on Saturday morning.
The 60-year-old was uninjured, the police said.
A cyclist and a police patrol discovered the burning tent under the light rail bridge on Strasse des 17. Juni around 2 a.m.
The officers put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.
Shortly before falling asleep, the homeless person heard a hissing noise, similar to a lighter, and perceived the smell of burning.
He then left the tent with his sleeping clothes and personal belongings.
Outside, a man is said to have stolen a pack of cigarettes and a backpack from the unoccupied neighboring tent.
The stranger is said to have fled towards the Tiergarten S-Bahn station.
It was only on Sunday two weeks ago that a homeless person's tent burned down in Berlin-Britz - presumably also as a result of arson.
