It indicated that LG Energy Solutions could establish a battery factory directly in Georgia, USA, or participate in SK Innovation's acquisition of an existing factory.

It is interpreted with the intent to dispel local concerns that thousands of jobs could be lost if SK's Georgia plant shuts down as a result of a US International Trade Commission (ITC) decision.

According to local media AJC on the 12th, Jonghyun Kim, president of LG Energy Solutions, expressed this position in a letter to State Senator Rapier Warnock on the 10th.

"LG is ready to do anything to help Georgia residents and workers," said President Kim.

If an outside investor takes over SK's Georgia plant, LG could participate as a partner in operating it, he explained.

President Kim predicted, "Because of the growing demand for electric vehicle batteries, many investors and manufacturers will be interested in the commerce plant."

LG's position is interpreted as an intent to block the concerns that have arisen in Georgia since the ITC decision and the possibility of US President Joe Biden's veto.
