At the end of the deadline set by the Union parliamentary group leadership on Friday evening, all members of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group signed the required declaration of honor.

"All CDU / CSU members of the Bundestag have signed this declaration, making it clear that they have worked with all their might in the corona pandemic to overcome the crisis, to help citizens and support companies without drawing any personal benefit from it", wrote parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus (CDU) and CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt in a letter to the MPs.

Brinkhaus and Dobrindt had justified the action with the events of the MPs Georg Nüßlein (previously CSU) and Nikolas Löbel (previously CDU), who have since left the parties.

You see your responsibility to “present and clarify such facts in a completely transparent manner”.

After allegations of corruption and lobbying, three MPs have now left the parliamentary group, two of them resigned.

The lobbying and corruption allegations against individual members of the Union include business with corona protective masks.

The allegations are inconvenient for the Union shortly before the state elections in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate this Sunday.
