While the police are still investigating the most recent car fires in Hamburg, there are suspicions of eight car fires in the past year.

As the Senate explained to the citizenship in response to a request from the AfD parliamentary group, the State Criminal Police Office is assuming politically motivated and extremist arson.

In all eight cases, the suspects come from the left-wing extremist spectrum, as the Senate response further shows.

The acts were committed in the districts of Altona, Mitte, Eimsbüttel and Nord.

Four cases could be resolved.

"It is unbearable that left-wing extremists indiscriminately torch the citizens' belongings," said the domestic political spokesman and head of the AfD parliamentary group, Dirk Nockemann.

He demanded that the horse and rider be clearly identified.

"How much of the citizens' property still has to be burned so that the red-green Senate finally wakes up in the fight against left-wing extremism?"

Since February 22nd, at least 14 other cars have gone up in flames in Hamburg, eight have been affected.

The scenes of the crime were the districts of Bergedorf, Eißendorf, Langenhorn, Wilhelmsburg and Eimsbüttel.

On February 8, two trucks burned down on company premises in Wilhelmsburg.

Investigations are ongoing in all cases.

Most recently, three cars had burned on Wednesday night in the Hamburg district of Eimsbüttel - presumably after they had been set on fire.

First, a car was in flames that was parked on the side of the road, said a police spokesman.

A short time later, another car burned a few hundred meters away - so it is rather unlikely that it was a technical defect.

The police spokesman said that there was a search for possible perpetrators, but without success.

The fire brigade put out the three fires - the fire had spread from the first burning vehicle to a car parked next to it.

According to the police, the cars belong to private individuals and are not exceptional models.

There were also license plates from outside Hamburg.
