Stralsund (dpa / mv) - Within a few days, three avian influenza outbreaks were found in the Vorpommern-Rügen district.

After a case in a small group in Stralsund, about which the district had informed on Tuesday, two more cases were announced on Friday.

Another small holder in Stralsund and a turkey fattening company in the municipality of Semlow are affected.

This increases the number of outbreaks detected in the district to ten since the end of October.

Due to the weather, there has been a significant increase in pathogen detection in wild birds since mid-February.

Also in the case of the new outbreaks, a restricted area and observation area were created, in which special hygiene measures must be observed.

In the entire district, keepers have to house their poultry in stalls or in a sheltered place.

It is assumed that infected wild birds bring the pathogen into the holdings.

Outbreaks also occur again and again in other regions of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
