“I was not even stronger in tying my shoes,” “difficulty breathing,” “climbing the stairs is an achievement that I have always avoided,” and other obstacles that the diary of the 26-year-old Algerian Walid Lahrash narrated on such days last year.

Walid tells Al-Jazeera Net about his suffering from obesity, and he says, "I have suffered from very excess weight" since my childhood, and I never remember that I was thin or lightweight, and life details were always difficult for me, despite my activity, and I never thought about following a diet .

Obesity disease

Walid Lachhar chose commerce as a profession for him years ago, and he was a lot of mobility, and he says, "Obesity is an optional handicap. I always repeated this sentence whenever I felt that my biological life was much more than my age," and "I used to wear any clothing that covers my body," even though I am a follower of fashion.

He recounts, "It is difficult to live a youthful life with a body that does not obey you and a fat mass that makes it difficult for you to sleep and practice your diary like the rest," says the son of the city of Blida (60 kilometers west of the Algerian capital), "I used to avoid looking at myself in the mirror."

Walid felt that the one standing in front of him in the mirror was not him, until the airports were closed and the quarantine began in his country due to Corona, and his commercial activity stopped, to decide to put an end to all those negativities that he lived.

Walid says, "Obesity is a disease and not just an unpleasant form."

The decision to change

Bodybuilding and pregnancy strength coach Mohamed Auchan tells Al-Jazeera Net about the first day he met Walid, and his sermon says in a strong language, "If you want a perfect body, there is no place for slackness and there is no way to go back under any circumstances."

He accepted the challenge - as Auchan says - and "I was impressed by his commitment and results from the first week, he was not in a hurry, and he turned off his phone when entering the hall to focus and avoid his colleagues in the hall so as not to waste his time. He committed himself to running daily for 45 minutes in the morning, he did not hesitate to implement No guidance. "

Diet and exercise

The trainer adds, "Diet and sports, like mathematics, do not accept two possibilities; either you persist and reach your goal directly, or you are negligent and the road is long."

Walid wanted at first to lose weight, and to lose 50 to 60 kilograms as a maximum ambition, to be able to play the periodic match with his neighborhood friends, as obesity prevented him from doing so.

And he was thinking about making his life easier and going beyond those tiring details that he lived since his childhood.

Walid tells about the beginning of his feeling of change, "The weight was in a continuous downward trend against my rising morale, and even when my weight stabilized for a month, I did not stop, and I was not disappointed, but I continued to persist until my body returned to respond again, and I set the goal in mind."

Ambition

Walid's coach set short-term goals, he says, "If I told him that it would take a year or months he would not have started, but set goals with a range of a month, and we were putting together a list of tasks that must be accomplished every 4 weeks, which made him feel that the goals are being achieved, and he is not ready to return." One step back. "

Results began to appear on Walid's body, and his surroundings began to encourage him, and he says, "My mother and wife were an important support for me," and he tells about the passion he acquired that "sport has become a part of my life, since after losing all those kilograms, I did not encounter slack on my way."

He adds, "I was focusing with the coach on gaining muscle mass. I wanted him to build a real body, and after my ambition was to lose weight, I began to think about a strong physique, and why should I not play sports?"

The progress that coach Mohamed Auchan made with Walid attracted many athletes in Algeria, which prompted him to choose him as one of the elements that he intends to participate in in the upcoming local and international bodybuilding championships.

Today, Walid insists on educating people with obesity, and says, "Man is the solution of himself, so do not wait for the world to change for you." And he adds, "Start without focusing on the result; it is a foregone conclusion, and remember that you will grow up in your own eyes." Healthy should be a way of life. "
