A joint American and European welcome to the Libyan government’s confidence

The United States and the main European countries concerned with the Libyan file welcomed the confidence granted by the Libyan parliament to the transitional government in the country, and renewed the call for the withdrawal of "all mercenaries and foreign fighters" from this country.

The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the United States said in a joint statement: "This result constitutes an essential step on the road to uniting the Libyan institutions and finding a comprehensive political solution to the crisis suffered by Libya and its people."

The foreign ministers of these countries called on all Libyan parties to "ensure a constructive and without confrontation of all responsibilities" to the transitional government, welcoming Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj's commitment to "relinquishing power."
