Dortmund (dpa) - The 16-year-old storm talent Youssoufa Moukoko is apparently facing a nomination for the U21 European Championship from March 24th in Hungary and Slovenia.
"There have been talks with Stefan Kuntz in Dortmund regarding a nomination," said BVB sports director Michael Zorc on Thursday and confirmed a "kicker" report on a meeting with U21 coach Kuntz.
In any case, Moukoko's nomination would not fail because of BVB's veto.
"We would welcome that very much and would be happy if he took the step towards U21 at his age," said Zorc: "We would show our thumbs up."
Trainer Edin Terzic, who was sitting next to Zorc on the podium, nodded.
Since he was eligible to play since his 16th birthday in November, Moukoko has played 13 competitive games for BVB professionals and scored two goals.
In terms of age, he should still play for the U21s at the EM 2027.
