Koblenz (dpa / lrs) - The federal police have so far registered few violations of the stricter test obligation during random checks of people entering the French border region of Moselle in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Since March 2, only a good 20 people have been referred to test centers in Saarland because they could not prove a negative, maximum two-day-old corona test, said a spokesman for the federal police in Koblenz.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, there were no violations of this test requirement during controls in the border area.

Since March 2, around 1,300 identity checks have been counted in Saarland, the spokesman said.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, around 300 people were checked on the border with Moselle.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, the Moselle department has been a virus variant area since the beginning of March.

This is accompanied by a stricter test requirement upon entry.

After the tests will be asked in the course of the veil search, which will take place as before, said the spokesman.

The controls focus on unauthorized entry and cross-border crime - in the course of this, however, compliance with the corona rules is also checked.

There are no border controls on the border line.
