"We are really not a racist family."

Prince William said on Thursday March 11 that the British royal family was not racist after claims by Meghan, the wife of his younger brother Harry, that a family member questioned the skin color of her son Archie when she was pregnant.

During a visit to a school in east London, William, the eldest son of Crown Prince Charles, said he had not spoken to his brother since Oprah's interview with Harry and Meghan aired Winfrey, at the start of the week.

But when asked by a reporter if the royal family were racist, William replied, "We really are not a racist family."

Meghan, born to a black mother and white father, accused the British royal family of racism, lies and pushing them to the brink of suicide, in an explosive interview with host Oprah Winfrey, broadcast on Sunday March 7 in the evening by the American channel CBS.

Queen Elizabeth left her reserve on Tuesday March 10 and said she was "saddened" to learn what had happened to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, including accusations of racism against their son.

She promised that these would be taken seriously.
