Munich / Berlin (dpa) - Bavaria is demanding from the federal government a financial contribution from municipalities to income from solar systems.

Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) must have the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) changed by regulation, as has already been done for wind turbines, according to a letter from Bavaria's Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) to Altmaier, the German Press agency in Munich.

He "urgently" asks him to take this step, "before the mood changes and the municipalities see themselves being passed over in the expansion of the PV ground-mounted systems," the two-page letter goes on to say.

The aim must be to "prevent similarly deep trenches as with wind energy" in photovoltaic systems (PV).

To this end, “measures to increase acceptance” should be taken early on.

Aiwanger described the participation of the municipalities in the operation of wind turbines as a “milestone for acceptance”.

The government of the CSU and Free Voters in Bavaria relies primarily on photovoltaics for renewable energies.

According to Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), a major expansion is also planned here.

On the other hand, the Free State is stepping on the spot when it comes to wind energy, as the controversial 10H rule is slowing down expansion.

The rule stipulates that a wind turbine must be at least ten times as far away from residential areas as the system is high.
