The Italian government wants to give itself a few hours before issuing a new decree toughening health measures to contain the virus, but everything seems to indicate a next turn of the screw.

Among the proposals formulated by the Italian technical-scientific committee, a return to the "red zone" of the whole country during weekends, such as at Christmas with the closure of bars and restaurants, and total confinement for cities or regions where the threshold of 250 contagions per week per 100,000 inhabitants is reached.

Faced with the rise in contagions (more than 22,000 on Wednesday March 10), the reopening of cinemas and theaters on March 27 seems compromised.

We still need a few weeks of sacrifice,

" said Minister of Health Roberto Speranza while wanting to remain confident about an acceleration of vaccinations.

In some regions, local authorities have already taken the lead, such as in Bari, Puglia, where the mayor has decided to close all retail outlets from 6 p.m.

or in Campagnie, where the president of the region closed all parks and walking areas to the public.

The new containment measures will be announced this Friday, March 12 by the government.
