Neustadt-Glewe (dpa / mv) - The electronic music festival Airbeat One in Neustadt-Glewe (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) is sticking to its date in July for the time being.

The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has promised financial support to major major events, announced the organizers of Northern Germany's largest electronic music festival on Thursday.

This gives planning security for Airbeat One, which had around 65,000 visitors in its most recent edition in 2019.

On Wednesday, seven major German festivals canceled due to the corona pandemic for 2021, including Rock am Ring and the Hurricane Festival.

The organizers of Airbeat One hope for rapid progress in vaccination.

"We monitor the pandemic every day with all changes and new resolutions," they explained.

"We remain optimistic that the tide can still turn and that we in Germany, as planned in England, can return to a certain normal state in the summer."

In the second half of May at the latest, the makers of the festival want to decide whether Airbeat One will take place in 2021, as it was said.

The festival is planned for July 7th to 11th.

Last year it was canceled due to the corona pandemic.
