Berlin (dpa) - Alba Berlin has shown a strong comeback in the Euroleague.

On Thursday evening the Bundesliga basketball team won in front of empty stands in Lyon against the top French club ASVEL Villeurbanne thanks to a good second half with 95:89 (43:52).

For Alba it was the eleventh victory in the 29th game in the premier class.

The Berliners remain fifteenth on the table.

The best Alba throwers were Peyton Siva with 21 and Simone Fontecchio with 15 points.

Forward Louis Olinde returned to the German champions after a four-week injury break, but national player Maodo Lo had to pass at short notice due to foot problems.

Both teams quickly found their rhythm and so many throws found their way into the basket - at the end of the first quarter then mainly in the Berliner.

Because the guests did not get the French under control defensively, so that they could break away for the first time (30:23).

With increasing playing time, more and more lack of concentration crept into the tired Berliners.

And Villeurbanne took advantage of this and took a double-digit lead in the middle of the second quarter (46:36).

Alba took too many points.

But the Berliners came out of the cabin with renewed vigor.

After almost 24 minutes they even took the lead back (58:57).

Now the game was completely even again and the lead changed back and forth.

It stayed exciting until the final minute.

Only 27.5 seconds before the end, Fontecchio made the decision to 93:89 with a converted free throw.

After that, Alba didn't let anything burn.

Alba had already won the first leg in the last second.
