20 Egyptian workers die in a fire at a factory east of Cairo

Today, Thursday, the Egyptian authorities announced the death of 20 workers and the wounding of 24 others, as a result of a fire in a clothing factory in the city of Obour, east of Cairo.

The governorate of Qalyubia said on its official page on the social networking site "Facebook" today, that 16 deaths have been transferred to Al-Salam Hospital in Cairo and four deaths to Al-Khanka Mental Health Hospital.

The governorate indicated that the Civil Protection Administration was able to contain the fire and the cooling work is underway, pointing out that Governor Abdul Hamid Al-Hajjan has been following the incident around the clock since he received a report of the outbreak of the fire in one of the ready-made clothes factories in the youth housing area in Obour City.

She pointed out that the fire broke out at about eleven o'clock this morning in the four-storey factory, adding that it was decided to form a technical committee of specialists to conduct the necessary inspection of the fire and the neighboring buildings to indicate the extent of their safety and the extent of their vulnerability or not.
