A 30-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday by the Brest Criminal Court (Finistère) for a theft committed in a Decathlon store on the outskirts of Brest.

On December 5, he tried to steal clothes from the sports shop but only left with a meager booty: a pair of sneakers, which turned out to be made up of two left feet… According to

Ouest- France

, who attended the hearing, the man was also left with a bloody hand, after being injured while trying to tear off the locks of several items in a fitting room.

Pursued in the parking lot of the sports sign, the man then takes out a weapon and threatens the security service.

He manages to escape and takes a taxi home.

The gendarmes will have no trouble finding him thanks to the traces of blood and the fingerprints that the apprentice thief left behind him.

His weapon, a ball gun, and the left pair of feet will be found at his mother's home.

Tried Tuesday, the man admitted the facts and explained that he was addicted to drugs and riddled with debt.

He was sentenced to six months in prison.
