Reuters quoted the wife of Osama al-Hasani - an Australian citizen of Saudi origin - that a Moroccan court had ordered his extradition to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, in a case that raises the concerns of human rights groups.

Al-Hasani's wife, Hana, crying, during a call with a Reuters reporter, said that she did not expect this ruling.

Al-Hassani was arrested last month upon his arrival in Morocco, where he traveled to join his wife and daughter.

An official at the Moroccan Ministry of Justice said that the arrest came after the International Criminal Police (Interpol) issued a warrant at the request of Saudi Arabia, adding that Al-Hasani is wanted in a matter that falls under the penal code and includes theft.

A court in Saudi Arabia had sentenced Al-Hasani to two years in prison. He is a businessman, and he previously worked at a university in Saudi Arabia.
