Los Angeles (AP) - Elle Fanning (22, “Maleficent: Powers of Darkness”) joins the star cast around Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac and Elisabeth Moss for the film “Francis And The Godfather”.

She's really excited to share the news, Fanning wrote in an Instagram story.

In it, director Barry Levinson ("Rain Man") traces the turbulent genesis of the award-winning mafia drama "The Godfather".

Isaac plays the director Francis Ford Coppola, Moss plays his wife Eleanor Coppola.

Gyllenhaal plays the star producer Robert Evans, who brought hits like "The Godfather" and "Love Story" to the cinema.

Evans was then married to "Love Story" actress Ali MacGraw, who is to be played by Fanning.

Coppola made his big breakthrough as a director in 1972 with the brilliant film adaptation of Mario Puzo's bestseller “The Godfather”, with Marlon Brando as mafia boss Don Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as his youngest son Michael.

The then little tried Coppola argued violently with Evans about the casting of the roles.

The shooting for "Francis And The Godfather" should start according to "Variety" in the fall.
