Martin Thornell and his colleagues have noticed that many young people have become restless during the winter - with pandemic-closed leisure centers and leisure activities.

The library at Gamlegården has also been closed in the afternoons.

- We notice when several places close down that the young people become restless.

They are out and have nothing to do, says Martin Thornell.

This has led to more damage in schools - but also damage in the form of ovulation in houses.

Messy even at the city library

In the autumn, Gamlegården's library closed in the afternoons after the handling of drugs outside but also inside the library.

- It is not the case that there has been a base for drug sales inside the library.

A lot has happened outside and we are looking at the whole place with ABK (municipal housing company) and the municipality to see what you can do there, says Martin Thornell and continues:

- And that does not only apply to that library.

Even in central Kristianstad, we are looking at what can be changed to make it less messy.

"Must take hold of his life"

Drug handling also took place at the staff entrance at Gamlegården's library.

Has it changed or will the situation be the same again for the staff when they open in the afternoons again?

- It will not be the same.

The police may supervise that area.

ABK is looking at the environment and there will probably be measures.

It may just move the problems - but then we have to try and do the same in the next place.

In the end, you may feel that there is another way in life than committing a crime.

Sometimes you have to wake up and take charge of your life, says Martin Thornell.
