After more than 70 years of relay tree planting and ecological restoration, the forest coverage rate of Youyu has increased to 54%.
The ecological background of Youyu in Shanxi has changed from yellow sand to full of green eyes.

Zhang Hongxiang said that now, we have to create another miracle on this land, promote ecological and intelligent breeding, and truly turn green water and green mountains into golden mountains and silver mountains. .
Zhang Hongxiang suggested that the slopes above 25 degrees in Yanmenguan area of Shanxi should be planned as natural and smart pastures, green ecology and sustainable industries should be developed, and rural revitalization should be promoted through agriculture and rural modernization.
Youyu is located in the farming and pastoral zone of Yanmenguan, Shanxi. It is a small grain base county in the country and the only semi-agricultural and semi-pastoral county in Shanxi. The natural grassland in the territory is 780,000 mu.
In recent years, Zhang Hongxiang and his team have built a 400-mu breeding park and planned 20,000-mu pasture through land transfer.
In addition, he tried to build a steel membrane structure awning on Youyu Mountain, and combined with intelligent technology to promote ecological and intelligent breeding mode.
"We choose to build awnings in some central areas on Youyu Mountain, each with an area of about 1,000 square meters. At the same time, we surround the awning with 500 acres to 1,000 acres of land to form a natural pasture." Zhang Hongxiang said, we drew water from the mountains and at the same time. Planting seabuckthorn, Caragana korshinskii and other plants that prevent soil erosion on the hillside forms an ecological breeding chain.
Zhang Hongxiang said that they used the oatgrass widely planted in Youyu as a main raw material to support the processing of feedstuffs in a grass pellet processing plant with an annual output of 100,000 tons.
In summer, the sheep guards graze on natural pastures; in winter, the staff feed the sheep with fodder collected and stored.
Zhang Hongxiang said that they equip each sheep with electronic chips to record its growth and development data so that customers can trace and adopt them at the city sales terminal.
Currently, Zhang Hongxiang is building an intelligent control center, "With the help of the Internet of Things, we will gradually realize that the sheep breeders sit in the office and herd sheep."
In this regard, Zhang Hongxiang suggested that the Yanmenguan agricultural and pastoral transition zone in Shanxi should be transformed into a natural and intelligent pasture with slopes above 25 degrees, which will give full play to the advantages of the local semi-agricultural and semi-pastoral areas, and revitalize the industrial value of green water and green mountains.
