Oslo (AP) - The Norwegian Ski Association has withdrawn its appeal against the disqualification of Johannes Klaebo at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf.

According to the association, this was done at Klaebo's request.

"I don't want to be perceived as a squeamish skier," said the 24-year-old on the Norwegian broadcaster NRK.

Klaebo had been denied victory in the race over 50 kilometers in the classic technique on Sunday because he had obstructed the Russian Alexander Bolshunov at the finish.

The gold medal went to the Norwegian Emil Iversen, who finished second.

Bolshunov broke a ski pole in a duel with Klaebo, he finished third.

Due to the disqualification of Klaebos, he moved up to the silver rank.

"I think it is wrong to continue this process," said Klaebo.

"I want to think positively and leave this behind."
