Munich (AP) - National team captain Manuel Neuer sees the announced departure from national coach Joachim Löw as an additional drive for the European Football Championship in the summer.
"Now there is one more reason that we are trying everything to successfully contest the European Championship," wrote Neuer on Instagram about a photo that shows him with Löw in earlier days of the national team.
"After that, an era will come to an end and I am very grateful to Jogi Löw for the time we spent together, from which of course the world title stands out."
Neuer made his international debut under Löw in June 2009, and in 2014 they became world champions in Brazil.
After the EM 2016, Neuer replaced Bastian Schweinsteiger as captain of the DFB-Elf.
Löw resigns as national coach after the EM in the summer.
