Düsseldorf (dpa) - The right-wing activities in a police service group in Mülheim / Ruhr were, according to the NRW Interior Ministry, "perceptible in their environment" and should have "triggered interventions".

However, this apparently did not happen, as the special inspection at the responsible police headquarters in Essen had shown.

Outside the service group, which had shared right-wing extremist content in WhatsApp chats, the special inspection had not found any cases of similar scope.

According to a report from the Interior Ministry to the state parliament, there was "a group of negative drivers" in the said team who "had surrounded themselves with supporters."

The actions of both groups “clearly” went beyond the posting of right-wing extremist, xenophobic, racist and anti-Semitic content.

It included "almost all aspects of the syndrome of group-related enmity".

To the constellation of the service group had "long standing people in their functions and an unbalanced age structure contributed."

Above all, however, executives in the immediate vicinity “did not perform their tasks properly”, according to the report.

In the past year, several Whatsapp groups were exposed to the police in Mülheim / Ruhr, in which, in addition to official matters, Hitler's pictures or inflammatory content were shared.

Later, the Whatsapp group of a bowling team became known which, according to the current report, was used “only for off-duty activities”.

This chat group, which also included members of the other Whatsapp groups, was particularly bad, according to the ministry.
