Libya: Parliament gives its confidence to the government of Abdel Hamid Dbeibah

In Libya, after two days of intense debate, the elected parliament approved the transitional government headed by 61-year-old businessman Abdel Hamid Dbeibah.

The vote took place this Wednesday, March 10 in Sirte.

He was hailed as "historic" for a cabinet born of a process sponsored by the UN and which must help bring the country out of chaos by leading it to elections at the end of the year.

, appointed at the end of a political process supervised by the United Nations, reiterated his promises: to reunite the country and the institutions, to listen to all the citizens suffering in view of the catastrophic economic situation, take care of the development of the regions in an equitable manner, and make all the necessary efforts to organize the general elections at the end of the year.

He was applauded several times by parliamentarians after having managed to win more than 120 favorable votes out of 132 deputies present.

The interim government formation took into account the balance between jurisdiction and regional representation so that it was representative of the entire country.

This government where a woman, for the first time in Libya, will take the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be operational until December 24, the expected date of the general elections.

He will remain in place until the installation of an elected government.
