Kiel (dpa / lno) - The retail trade in Schleswig-Holstein may initially remain open.

The state government announced on Wednesday in Kiel.

Economics Minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) said with regard to the corona pandemic: "In view of the nine days of a stable number of less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, the further opening of the retail trade is just as consistent and responsible as it is cautious."

However, Buchholz also said that the companies would have to prepare for corona numbers that may rise again in the coming weeks.

"This means that retailers should look into digital appointment scheduling and contact tracking options as early as possible."

The assessment of the pandemic situation published on Wednesday is said to be valid for the coming week.

The shops in Schleswig-Holstein have been able to reopen since Monday with a limited number of customers in relation to the sales area.

Should the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants rise again to over 50 within seven days, the customers would have to make an appointment before shopping, it was said on Monday.

If the number rises above 100 nationwide, retail would have to close again and customers would only be able to pick up goods that have been ordered in advance.
