Ransbach-Baumbach (dpa / lrs) - Around 120 people had to leave a high-rise apartment building in Ransbach-Baumbach in the Westerwaldkreis because rubbish was burning in the basement.

The police in Montabaur announced on Wednesday evening that smoke had developed in all corridors of the ten-story building.

The fire started in the main rubbish bin for an initially unexplained cause.

The high-rise is connected to the waste system via every floor.

"The house was freed from smoke by means of a room fan and made habitable so that all residents could re-enter the building," said the police.

There were no injuries.
