Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The number of road deaths in North Rhine-Westphalia is a record low.

This is indicated by the unadjusted figures published by the Federal Statistical Office.

The adjusted current traffic accident statistics for North Rhine-Westphalia will be presented today, Wednesday in Düsseldorf by North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU).

According to the provisional figures, 430 people died on NRW roads last year - fewer than ever since 1953. Due to the corona pandemic, however, significantly fewer kilometers were covered on German roads in 2020 than in the previous year.

According to the Federal Office, the number of seriously injured people in NRW fell by a good tenth to 12,110 in 2020 compared to the previous year.
