  On New Year's Eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year, the head of the main Buddha on the north wall of Cave 8 of the Tianlongshan Grottoes, which has been lost overseas for nearly a century, appeared in the Spring Festival Gala of China Central Radio and Television.

This has made the Chinese cultural relics scattered overseas attract the attention of Chinese netizens again.

Liu Yuzhu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency that in 2021, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage will continue to work on multiple aspects, multiple dimensions, and multiple methods to carry out recourse and return work.

On the evening of February 11, the main Buddha head on the north wall of Cave 8 of the Tianlongshan Grottoes, which had been lost overseas for nearly a century, appeared at the 2021 Spring Festival Gala on New Year’s Eve.   Liu Yuzhu said that with the rise of China's national power and the unprecedented increase in the protection of cultural heritage at the national level, China's efforts in combating illegal trafficking in cultural relics and recovering lost cultural relics have received widespread attention.

  Liu Yuzhu talked about the key points of the recourse and return work this year:

  Internally, actively promote the improvement of domestic laws and strengthen the management of cultural relics entry and exit; focus on consolidating basic work, further improving the work system, and forming extensive synergy with various national departments.

  Externally, it will actively promote the improvement of international rules, actively participate in the work of the UNESCO 1970 Convention, publicize and promote China's good practices; actively promote the signing of bilateral agreements with foreign countries, strengthen the docking of multilateral organizations, and establish a diplomatic home in a timely manner; promote the construction of relevant international laws , Strengthen China’s interest demands, carry out multi-dimensional international cooperation, establish closer cooperative relations with countries that have lost major cultural relics, and explore and practice the return of cultural relics to foreign countries, earnestly fulfill international responsibilities, and demonstrate the image of a major country in multiple directions.

  While promoting the return of Chinese cultural relics scattered overseas, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage has many other cultural relics exchange and cooperation projects planned during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

  Liu Yuzhu said that the State Administration of Cultural Heritage will build a brand project for cultural relics exchange and cooperation; actively participate in the global governance of cultural heritage and the supply of public products, contribute Chinese solutions, Chinese wisdom, and Chinese power, and promote the return of cultural relics and other international rules in a more fair and just direction Evolution.
